Efforts are underway by the Seychelles Agricultural Agency to encourage the islands' farmers to grow more sweet potatoes. Once a widely grown staple crop, it's cultivation has declined in favour of cassava, yam and maize.
At present, only seven out of the country's 650 hectares of registered cropland are devoted to sweet potato farming.
